Journey So Far
My journey began like many in business families—by observing and helping my father at his shop after school. Without realising it, my non-textbook mind was learning how business works.

We started with wholesale trading of undergarments, but the margins were thin. That led us to explore kids-wear, which offered better potential. We sourced from Kolkata and marketed from Udaipur, handling everything ourselves. It worked, but the model was capital-heavy and had its limits.

Reinvention 1
Looking for something more sustainable, we moved into agency work— partnering with brands and organising trade conferences. This scaled quickly, but came with its own risks. We had no direct connection with the customer and the brands could move on at any point.

Reinvention 2
That’s when we tried retail. A small 280 sq. ft. store was our first step. With minimal effort, it crossed ₹1 crore in a year. Encouraged, we opened another store in Udaipur’s high street—it did ₹2 crore in its first year.

In 2018, it felt like a no-brainer to launch Mumkins under Navjeet India Private Limited. With experience, a strong network, and a clear direction, franchising came naturally. Today, we have 48 stores across 12 states. It’s been a journey of logical decisions, timely manoeuvres, and steady growth.

I feel my hands-on team and I are slowly but surely manifesting Mumkins as India’s most loved kids-wear brand.

Mumkins is a dynamic and rapidly growing kids' wear brand that was founded in 2018 with a clear and ambitious aim to provide stylish, fashionable, and high-quality clothing for children aged 0 to 15 years. Since its inception, Mumkins has quickly established itself as a trusted name in the kids' fashion industry, synonymous with style, quality, and an enjoyable shopping experience for both parents and children.

We pride ourselves on offering products that cater to a variety of occasions, whether it’s a wedding, birthday party, casual outing, or festive celebration.

Our target audience spans across families in the premium, mid-market, and mass segments, ensuring that we provide accessible and affordable options for every budget. We operate with a high-margin business model, with a gross margin ranging from 50% to 55%, and expect to increase this to up to 65% in the coming years.

In terms of our business model, we follow a low-asset approach, which allows us to focus on agility and scalability. Since we do not own manufacturing facilities, we rely on job work to create our products, which eliminates the need for a large setup for machinery and heavy capital investment. In terms of retail, we work with rented stores, leveraging the flexibility this model provides, and plan to expand further through Exclusive Brand Outlets (EBOs), Multi-Brand Outlets (MBOs), Large Format Stores (LFS), and ecommerce platforms. Our focus on Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) sales ensures that we are able to provide our customers with a seamless and personalized shopping experience both online and offline.

Currently, Mumkins has a presence in over 25 cities across 11 states in India, including Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities. In Tier 1 cities, we have a strong foothold in major urban hubs such as Hyderabad, Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur, where there is a high demand for premium, fashionable children’s wear. Our market reach is steadily expanding as we venture into new regions, serving a wider demographic of parents seeking stylish, high-quality clothing for their children. The contributions from these city tiers are instrumental in driving our growth, and we plan to continue expanding our presence in these cities and beyond.
